How can the UC San Diego office help you support your student?

Whether you are a family member living locally or abroad and whether your student is in their first or last quarter at UC San Diego, our office helps you navigate campus resources to support your student. Parents and families play an important role in their student’s educational journey.

Does UCSD issue paper bills?

As a part of sustainability initiatives, UCSD does not issue paper bills. Your student account displays debits as well as credits to your account, such as financial aid and refunds. Check your official UCSD e-mail account regularly so you don't miss your E-Bill notifications.

How do I Pay my Student Financial Solutions Bill?

Visit the Student Financial Solutions website, sfs.ucsd.edu, to find information about your student accounts and how to understand and pay your bill. The Central Cashier's Office is responsible for processing cash and check payments made to the University. Questions? Contact the following units within Student Financial Solutions:

Obtain authorization from your student

In order to access your student's bill and perform transactions on their behalf, your student must initiate the process to authorize any parent/family member to access their financial record.

Create your personal login to receive your student's billing statement

You will receive an e-mail notice from sfs@ucsd.edu, with the subject line "UCSD E-Bill Authorization." Please follow directions to set up a username and password. The e-mail is only valid for 14 days.

View and pay your student's billing statement

Make sure you have access to view and pay your student’s bill. Read the sections how to obtain authorization and how to create credentials to view the bill (see above).

While all students take classes during the fall, winter, and spring quarters, some students opt in to take classes in the summer. The Academic Calendar is subject to revision.

Veteran's Day Holiday

The University will be closed Monday, November 11. Dining Halls: reduced hours and closures at select locations.

Thanksgiving Holiday

The University will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 25-26 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Residence halls and apartments will remain open during that time. Select Dining Restaurant and Market facilities will open during this holiday. Please visit http://hdh.ucsd.edu/DiningHours for date and time details of each restaurant and market.

Shuttle Service

The UCSD Shuttles will operate normal hours on Wednesday, November 24. There will be no shuttle service on Thursday and Friday. Only the campus loop shuttle will be in operation on Saturday and Sunday.

Winter Quarter Billing Statement

The Winter Quarter Billing Statement will be available on December 1 and must be paid no later than December 17, 2021.

Student Wellness

As finals approach, chances are your college student is experiencing stress. The Zone is a student lounge that offers free well-being programs such as yoga, fitness classes, cooking demonstrations, meditation, and much more — all designed to help your student de-stress.

Special Dietary Needs

Dining Services makes every attempt to accommodate students who require specialty diets. Individuals should contact our Registered Dietitian at HDHdietitian@ucsd.edu; they will then assist in coordinating with dining facilities so that your student gets assistance in identifying suitable menu choices. Details can be found here.

FLEXIBILITY

If paying by E-Check is not an option for you at the moment SFS provides payment flexibility; including payments with cash, check, 529 payments and more.

CASHIER'S OFFICE

The Cashier’s Office is located on the ground floor of the Student Services Center, Suite 170. Payments can be deposited in the external drop box during closures. Their office accepts:

MAILED PAYMENTS

The Cashier’s Office accepts all forms of payments via mail, except for cash. Mailed payments must be received by the Cashier's on or before the payment due date. The University will not honor postmarks as on time.

529 PLAN

Prepaid educational savings plans, also known as prepaid tuition plans or Qualified Tuition Programs (QTPs), are dedicated savings plans set up under Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code. The funds are set aside for future college costs, and are operated by individual states or educational institutions.

TIME PAYMENT AGREEMENT

Student Financial Solutions offers an alternative payment option for out of school students (eg. Graduated, withdrawn, etc.) who have a past due balance on their account.
