Looking for a preschool during the pandemic is not an easy task. At LFSF we offer a well-rounded in-person education that places the development and well-being of your child at its core. More than a bilingual program, LFSF offers opportunities for young preschoolers to grow and thrive in this crucial moment of their lives.

The gift of Bilinguism

Research studies indicate that the achievement of proficiency in a second language associated with Dual Language instruction provides many benefits for students.

A unique school within an international network

Our unique educational program is accredited by the French Ministry of Education, which guarantees the quality and rigor of its French component.

Welcome to LFSF

The Lycée Français de San Francisco (LFSF) is an independent international school, and the largest French American program in Northern California.

THE GIFT OF BILINGUALISM

Most LFSF students become fluent in a second language in their very early years. They not only speak, they write, read and learn in that language as comfortably as they do in their primary language. Moreover, students are ready to learn and introduced to a third language by the end of their Elementary school years.

Cognitif benefits

Research studies indicate that the achievement of proficiency in a second language associated with Dual Language instruction provides many benefits for students.

Beyond school

In a global society like ours, learning a second language during childhood provides developmental and social benefits children will carry with them well after graduation.

An advantage in your professional life

50 to 75% of adults around the world speak at least two languages. In our global society, bilingual professionals have many advantages. They have more job opportunities around the world than monolingual adults. Research shows that they also earn an average of $7,000 more per year than their monolingual peers.

Whether or not you are a bilingual parent, your role as a parent is essential

Bilingual or not, parents have a critical role to play. Having a French speaking parent is not a factor of success in a bilingual program like ours. On the contrary, parents are encouraged to read to their children in their mother tongue, knowing that knowledge and learning in one language is eventually transferred to the other.

Why French?

French is one of the very few languages spoken all over the world. It is unusual in that it often exists alongside other languages in multilingual contexts. At LFSF, our mission is not to teach French but to deliver a rigorous program and educate mindful and globally-minded students, fully comfortable with the many cultures of the world...
