What is the Windward school email?

Every Wednesday that school is in session, The Windward School Communications Office sends a weekly email called the "We-Blast." This email contains information for all-school news and links to the divisional pages of the myWindward portal. Please refer to the We-Blast and to the portal for the latest information for the School and your student's division.

Why is Windward important?

Windward considers parents and guardians to be essential partners in fostering self-esteem and building effective coping skills. Therefore, a significant effort is made to work with parents and guardians in helping them understand and deal with their children’s learning difficulties.

How many times a year are parent conferences held?

Parent/Teacher conferences are held three times a year by each division. Parents have the opportunity to meet with their child's homeroom teacher, teacher team, and/or specialist teachers. Instructions on how book an appointment and to sign up.

When is parent seminar?

Parent Seminars. Parent Seminars are held every month beginning in September through the month of April (no seminar held in December). They are offered on the Westchester Middle School campus and the Manhattan campus.

What is the Windward Parent Guild?

The Windward Parent Guild is the liaison between the parents and Windward School. As a Windward parent, you help to organize and plan many of the School's special events and assist in sustaining the arts , athletics, service learning and other important areas of school life. The Parent Guild works to strengthen participation in the Windward community through parental volunteer programs that enrich the social, cultural, and fundraising activities of the School.

Where is the parent guild meeting?

The Parent Guild holds five meetings during the year on the 2nd floor of the Center for Teaching and Learning building . All parents are always welcome. At meetings, we often hear reports from Head of School Tom Gilder, the Division Directors, college counselors, faculty guest speakers, and various Parent Board Liaisons on the latest activities and plans for our students. Whether you just want to stay informed or wish to volunteer for one of our committees, we hope to see you at the meetings!

Internships

Internships offered through the Windward Network provide meaningful experiences for current students (rising Juniors and Seniors) and college-age alumni in a variety of different fields beyond the classroom.

Windward at Work

Our online mentoring and professional support platform, Windward at Work, now has over 900 users! Through Windward at Work, students and alumni are able to seek guidance from mentors—Windward parents, alumni, Friends of Windward—who have signed up to help assist in areas ranging from building a compelling resume and preparing for interviews to making introductions within their network..
