Who can study at UWC Maastricht?

UWC Maastricht offers an English-language education to a diverse group of students from over 100 different nationalities. Please read more about how to apply to become a student at our school. Our Primary School welcomes children between 4 and 11 years. At the moment we have around 300 primary school students.

What is the age limit for UWC Maastricht secondary school?

Students age 11 till 19 are welcome in our Secondary School. Every year around 600 young people from all over the world attend UWC Maastricht Secondary School to work together towards peace and a sustainable future.

When is UWC Maastricht closed for winter break?

Between Saturday 18 December and Sunday 9 January, UWC Maastricht will be closed for winter break. We wish you happy holidays and a peaceful 2022! Our MYP2 students have started an ‘Adelante Material Donation Project’, for which they asked people to donate toys.

Where is UWC Maastricht?

UWC Maastricht, in The Netherlands , is one of ​ the 18 UWC schools​ around the world. All of them are ​driven by nine values, in order for young people to flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.

How many buildings are there in UWC Maastricht?

The campus of UWC Maastricht is located close to the city center and consists of five buildings: one for our primary school, one for our secondary school and three residence buildings. We would love to show you around!

What is sustainability at UWC?

Sustainability is an intrinsic part of our mission at UWC Maastricht. We encourage our students to engage with our surrounding environment by allowing them the opportunity to actively protect it while developing every-day practices that are more sustainable. It starts in the classrooms, it expands to the school and eventually fosters change in the community at large. This work is developed also in the framework of the Eco-Schools programme. We proudly hold the Green Flag, a recognition awarded to schools that work on becoming environmentally sustainable.

Primary School

UWC Maastricht Primary School welcomes children between 4 and 11 years. Our aim is for them to be excited to come to school every day, to be happy and motivated in their learning and to share their experiences, ideas and cultures so that we all learn with and from each other. Around 300 students are attending our primary school at the moment.

Curriculum

We aspire to equip students in our primary school with the life skills needed for their own future and the future of our world. The curriculum we use is under constant review to ensure that students are adequately prepared for the Middle Years Programme or equivalent

Beyond the Classroom

We are proud of our different co-curricular programmes and initiatives which give students the opportunity to learn through experience. After school clubs, music lessons, projects and community services ensure our student flourish outside the classroom as well.

Apply

Admissions for UWC Maastricht Primary School must be in line with the Dutch law on International Education. You can apply up to one year before the expected starting date. We have rolling admissions from September to May.

Fees

UWC Maastricht relies on parental fees to offer its robust educational programme. The primary school fee for year 2022-2023 is €6.420.

IB Middle Years Programme

Life in the 21st century places many changing demands on students making the transition through adolescence.

IB Career Programme

Our IB Career-related Programme is a pre-university course designed for students aged 16-19. It allows students to choose courses with a particular focus on their future career of choice. At UWC Maastricht, we have designed a very innovative pathway in Sustainable Business.

IB Diploma Programme

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education that prepares students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. The programme has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students.

Fees

UWC Maastricht relies on fees to offer the robust educational programme that is demanded by the UWC Educational Model. The fee for year 2022-2022 for the Middle Year Programme is €9.675, for the Career-related and Diploma Programme (day students) it’s €10.015.

Residences

200 Career-related and Diploma Programme students live on campus. These residential students are housed in the residence buildings. They live there in small groups, with four students sharing a bedroom. Students come together in the Mensa for breakfast and dinner.

Safeguarding

The Board and Leadership Team of UWC Maastricht affirm their commitment to the wellbeing and safety of all members of the UWC Maastricht community. That is why the school provides training and guidance to ensure the full implementation of the safeguarding policies and procedures.

Residence buildings

The three residence buildings are home to 200 Diploma Programme Students. Four students share one room, and each two rooms share a bathroom. There are six bedrooms on each floor plus an apartment for the residence mentor (s). There is also a common room on every floor that includes a basic kitchen.

Sustainability

The design of the UWC Maastricht campus sets high ambitions for sustainability. From the very beginning a lot of thought was put into the environment, energy and value for the future. The construction materials were chosen on the basis of their solid quality and recyclability. The heating system is based on a geothermal heat pump system.

Middle Years Programme

Students aged 11 till 16 can attend our International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. We currently welcome around 300 MYP students.

IB Diploma Programme

Jut like in the IBCP, we welcome both residential students who live on our campus as well as day students who live in the Maastricht region in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. We currently host around 300 DP students.
