How many eighth grade students apply for Governor’s School?

Typically 1,200 eighth grade students apply each year for admission. Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School will only accept full-time students who have met the regional requirements for admission.

When will the MLWGS remove the on-site assessment?

On October 15th, 2020 the MLWGS Regional School Board approved a request to remove the on-site assessment from the admission process for the Class of 2025 in response to COVID-19 precautions. The admissions package that will be reviewed by each locality will not include this assessment but will consist of the other existing components.
