Marvelwood is eager to give Kildonan students the home they deserve.” Kildonan School, which closed its Amenia, NY campus in 2019, made its reputation through programming specifically designed for students with dyslexia.

What is the parent portal and how do I login?

The Parent Portal gives you access to all the information you need to plan for your child’s summer at Camp Dunnabeck. Much of the information is provided on this page. Once your child is enrolled, you will be given a password to access additional information like your child’s schedule and camp photos via the Parent Portal Login button (below).

What happened to Kildonan’s administrative offices?

Administrative offices for both programs are part of Marvelwood’s newly-renovated Admission & Advancement Center; Stewart, Oppenheimer, and other senior Kildonan staff will continue to be involved with both programs in their new location.

How long is Kildonan camp?

Kildonan’s Camp Dunnabeck is a six-week academic summer camp for students ages 8 to 16 years old with dyslexia and language-based learning differences. Boarding, full-day, half-day, and online options are available.

Is Marvelwood a Kildonan school?

Last year, Marvelwood became the new home to three former Kildonan students, two of whom completed their senior year on Skiff Mountain. Two additional students who attended Camp Dunnabeck are also currently enrolled. The school continues to receive inquiries from other Kildonan families.

Body awareness at Kildonan and Camp Dunnabeck

Dyslexic students at The Kildonan School and Camp Dunnabeck benefit from programs like the equestrian program. The winter snowsports (Kildonan) and summer waterskiing (Camp Dunnabeck) also benefit students. The coordination dyslexic students gain through these balance sports help support their brain development.

Benefits of equestrian for dyslexic students

Beyond the cognitive benefits of riding, opportunities abound for students to grow emotionally and socially. The Kildonan School offers daily contact with horses and other resident animals for students to develop strengths outside the classroom.
