How do I get a PowerSchool account?

Contact your school or district for access information and instructions. You can visit your school or district website, or speak with your school or district administrators. PowerSchool logins are granted by schools and districts. Each school will verify your identity before giving you an account to help protect student data and privacy.

What if I have more than one student in Jackson-Madison County?

What if I have more than one student in the Jackson-Madison County School District? Do I need to do this for each child? Yes, you will have to submit the registration form once per each child, because you will need to provide information that is specific to each student.

How can parents/guardians view a student's information in PowerSchool?

Students and parents/guardians may view grades, attendance, school email and password, and other information via PowerSchool. If a student does not know their access information, they may contact the library or their counselor . Parents/guardians are encouraged to set up their account to view their student's information.

How do I register a returning student using the PowerSchool app?

Please note, you cannot use the PowerSchool App to complete registration. It can only be done using a web browser such as Google or Safari. Select the Returning Student Registration icon on the left side. If you have a PowerSchool parent account and can't remember the username and/or password: Click on "Forgot Username or Password."

How to register for PowerSchool?

Once you are logged in to the PowerSchool Parent Account: 1 Select the student you wish to register along the top. 2 Select the Student Registration Icon on the left side for 2018-19. 3 Begin filling out the form. 4 When you have finished entering your information, click "Submit."

Do you have to submit a registration form for each child?

Yes, you will have to submit the registration form once per each child, because you will need to provide information that is specific to each student. We recommend that you submit one Returning Student Registration and then start another as this will allow you to "snap over" shared family information.

Academics and Curriculum

All calls

A. All-calls are messages (voicemails, emails and text messages) sent out to various groups within the Jackson-Madison County School System that contain important information. These may come from personnel from your child's school or from the District.

Enrollment

A. We are utilizing an online registration process! Visit jmcss.org . Under the Families tab, choose Registration . Click on the New Students box and follow the directions on the screen. Please, note, your registration will not be complete until you have taken the required documentation to the school your student will attend.

Food Services

A. All students in the Jackson-Madison County School system are provided free breakfast and lunch, daily, through a provision known as "Community Eligibility." All students qualify for free meals regardless of household income.

Gifted Program

A. Intellectually gifted means a child whose intellectual abilities, creativity and potential for achievement are so outstanding that the child’s needs exceed differentiated general education programming, adversely affects education performance, and requires specifically designed instruction or support services.

Open Enrollment

A. Open Enrollment is an option offered by JMCSS for families to send their students to schools outside of their zoned area. If seats are available, out-of-zone students can be enrolled in their requested school.
