How do I create a parental login for a student?

Does CSU Chico provide access to confidential student information?

Access to confidential student information is protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). It is the student's right to decide to share their student record information with others. CSU, Chico staff can answer questions about the Guest User account setup, but are not authorized to reset passwords or provide access.

How do I search the courses offered by CSU?

To Search the courses offered by CSU, ( click here ) or select Course Search on the Academics tab. Please use the provided links if you do not know your CSU ID (Username) and/or PIN number (Password).

What is a guest user account?

Students can create an online Guest User account for parents, guardians, and third parties granting access to their student financial and academic information. Access may include student account balances, class schedule, financial aid, and application status.

Where is the authorization to release link located?

Students can add the authorization using the Authorization to Release link located in the Student Records menu in the Student Center.

Can a student change parent access to their information?

The student can change parent or guardian access to their information at any time. Only the student may authorize access, not the university. Check Guest User email notifications for access authorized.

Can CSU students access FAMweb?

Students have the ability to designate specific individuals to have secure online access to view selected education records through FAMweb. CSU students have the right and responsibility to choose to provide, update or withdraw FAMweb access, all of which is managed from within their RAMweb account.

When should I grant access to my student records?

Students should grant individuals access prior to the start of the school year to ensure that these individuals do not miss any important communications (such as billing notifications).

Access to Educational Records

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student educational records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

Payments

Students can create a Parent Pin to allow parents to go online and make a payment. Instructions on creating a Parent Pin are available here (219KB). Online payments can be made by electronic check (free of charge), credit/debit card (charged a 2.65% convenience fee) or wire transfer.

Email Notification

Student Business Services sends official University communications (regarding payment deadlines and other important information) to the student Dolphin Email account. If you would like to receive these notifications, it is possible for your student to automatically forward their Dolphin Email account to a personal email account.
