How much financial aid does CDS give in 2021?

Our commitment to affordability is strong, with approximately $3.3 million in financial aid granted for the 2021-22 school year to approximately 32% of our students. Our financial aid program ensures that we are enrolling the best and brightest students in our classrooms, regardless of ability to pay.

What is SSS in school?

School and Student Services (SSS) uses a methodology to compute a family's ability to pay (Effective Family Contribution) for educational expenses for all children. Carolina Day School uses the SSS process as a starting point for all Financial Aid applications and does a separate sensitivity analysis to account for unusual or special circumstances.

How is financial aid determined at Carolina Day School?

Financial Aid decisions are determined by the Carolina Day School Financial Aid Committee through an analysis of each family’s financial situation. Financial information is held in strict confidence. The following policies guide the Financial Aid Committee decisions:

How many committees are there for financial aid?

Financial aid decisions and admission decisions are made by two separate committees.

What is not included in tuition?

Not included in tuition: lunches, after school care, bus fees, calculators and similar school supplies; some field trips; yearbook or student photos; individualized programs or special tutoring.

When is the deadline for financial aid for Carolina Day School?

The deadline to apply for Financial Aid is November 15. If you are currently a CDS family who does not receive financial aid from the school but you are interested in applying, please contact the Financial Aid Office directly.

Is SSS secure?

All material submitted to SSS is secure. For security purposes, do not send tax documents directly to the school. We will not accept them. SSS does have a mail-in option if needed.

Your Timing and Ours

Your application for admission and your application for financial aid occur in parallel. In this way, we can deliver both a response to your application for admission and a response to your financial aid application at the same time.

Application Deadlines

November 15: Lower/Middle/Upper School applicants who complete both the admission process and the financial aid process by November 15 will receive a Winter Decision (notification early January).

How You Can Apply for Financial Aid

Our policy requires that ALL PARENTS submit a Parents' Financial Statement (PFS).

Log back into the SSS portal to ensure you have submitted both your PFS and all supporting documentation.
