How many people attend Cal Poly?

The university has a target enrollment of 4,493. Cal Poly offered admission to 15,041 people out of 54,060 first-time freshman applicants. That’s significantly fewer than were admitted last year, when 16,466 of 55,000 applicants were accepted for fall 2018.

What do you need for Cal Poly?

Program Selection

  • All Cal Poly applicants must select a major. Undeclared is not an option for our campus.
  • You will be evaluated against other first-year applicants applying to the same major.
  • You may select an alternate major, but very few applicants are offered admissions based on their alternate major selection.

What is the GPA requirement for Cal Poly?

  • Must be in good academic standing at the last institution attended.
  • Must have minimum 2.00 GPA in transferable coursework.
  • Must have at least minimum of 60 transferable semester units (90 quarter). 30 of the 60 semester units (45 quarter), must be in General Education. Completion of the "Golden Four."

What to Pay

Cal Poly Charges Tuition-Registration one quarter at a time, based on enrollment. On Campus Housing and Dining charges are usually posted for the entire year.

When to Pay

Registration-Tuition Fees are posted on a quarterly basis. The system-wide "Fee Past Due Date" shows for ALL students (regardless of Financial Aid status) in the "Unpaid Charges" sub-tab of Money Matters as well as "Activity Details" in the payment portal or "Charges by Due Date" in Share My Information reports.

Financial Aid

If you are interested in using a Payment Plan for Registration-Tuition, you will need to enroll in that plan prior to the system wide due date for the quarter. More information on our Term Payment Plan page.
