Where is BAVTS located?

The school is Located in Bethlehem Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. BAVTS serves, approximately, 1,300 students on a half-day about a delivery system (students spend ½ day at their sending high school and ½ day at our facility) through career and technical instruction in twenty-six (26) unique programs of study

What is level one in BAVTS?

Level One begins with a rotation through four (4) shops during the first quarter at BAVTS. At the end of the first quarter they select their top choices for permanent placement in a CTE program. This year is designed to assist students in appropriate career placement and for entry level skills of a specific program area. This program is related to the work goals of quality education as established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The integrated system for Workforce Education Curriculum will be used to integrate vocational education with academic skills. The CORE curriculum program is delivered through a plan of competency-based instruction and is articulated with the academic areas at Bethlehem, Northampton and Saucon Valley School Districts as well as with each job-specific lab.

What is level 1 in occupational education?

Level 1 students receive a foundation in the occupational departments chosen. This curriculum provides the essential skills and knowledge that apply to an entire occupational area along with related math.

What is BAVTS in Pennsylvania?

BAVTS – Division of Continuing Education is a career and technical school located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. As a community-based, public training facility, our goal is to provide adults with a variety of opportunities to build careers. As a non-profit entity, the Continuing Education Department also shares teaching space and some essential core administrative services with Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School – a very cost affective relationship.

Do you need a GED to get into BAVTS?

BAVTS does not require a diploma or GED to take most of our courses. However, all programs resulting in licensing or industry certification generally WILL require exam applicants to have a GED or diploma. As you might guess, employers will also look for candidates with a GED or diploma.
