Alfriston College runs 90 minute learning periods. This means that most learners have Whanau-based Learning Advisory (in Hapu with an Amokura) and three classes per day. 90 minute lessons allow for more in depth and uninterrupted learning to occur.

What is the only mainstream secondary school in NZ to acknowledge Te Marautanga Aotearoa?

Alfriston College is the only mainstream secondary school in NZ to acknowledge Te Marautanga Aotearoa which promotes success for Māori as Māori. One of the kaupapa Maori courses we have at AC is Te Ōhanga Hauora. For the fifth year in a row Te Ōhanga Hauora is supported by the Pūhoro programme from Massey University. The Pūhoro team regularly invests their time and expertise in helping the academic progress of our Māori learners.
